Film: The Mummy (1932)

Summary: Back when the pyramids were still young, many lived in a land of Pharaohs and desert. And slavery, but let's try to forget that. Either way, when death came for the higher-ups, they would be honorably mummified and placed into special sarcophaguses. As for scrubs like Imhotep, they were not so forgiving.

History: Imhotep was never one to let go of fate. So when his love, the princess Ankh-es-en-amon (try fitting that on a business card), died, the priest became determined to resurrect her. Unfortunately, he was convicted for this, and mummified while still alive. However, some idiot decided to leave a scroll there. It was the Scroll of Thoth, and if one read it aloud, Imhotep would rise again. Centuries later, someone did, Imhotep came back, and then proceeded to stalk his homeland looking for the most recent incarnation of the princess, who was unaware of her heritage.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After Ankh-es-en-amon is brought back through her reincarnation, the priest decided to spend eternity with here...but he has to kill her first. Just as Imhotep tries to kill her, she prays to the Godess Isis, who in turn burns the scroll that brought the priest back. As the paper goes out, Imhotep ages and burns into dust.

Powers/Abilities: Immortality and hypnotism come at his disposal. Also, acess to a few magical items.

Weakness: If the Scroll of Thoth is destroyed, then Imhotep will lose his immortality (and life).

Scariness Factor: 3-If no one had read that damn scroll, or just took a lighter to it, then we wouldn't have to sit through the creepiness of Imhotep. After centuries of imprisonment, this guy looks more like a zombie than a human being, and his intense staring at the camera doesn't help at all.

Trivia: -Thoth was the Egyptian God of knowledge, and is often depicted as a man with the head of either an ibis or a Baboon.

-Producer Carl Laemmle, Jr. was inspired to make this movie after the unveiling of Pharaoh Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922.
